Area Points of Interest

Scrappy

"Scrappy" is a rustic metal deer found at a rest spot next to the Discount Fuel Sinclair station. It is a one of a kind metal sculpture that you must look up close to see the intricate designs made from scrap metals.

40' Cross

The creator of Scrappy also constructed a  40 foot cross from salvaged metal.

The cross can be found by heading 13 miles south on Hwy 73, then  heading east on Swift Horse Road approximately 2 miles. You can't miss seeing it perched high on a bluff with it's majestic height.

Eastern Scenic Loop

Make a day of it!

Kadoka is a great stopping point before heading west into the Badlands and Black Hills. Have breakfast at the Sunset Grill and visit Main Street for some shopping.  Be sure to get a photo next to "skrappy"   at the Sinclair station.

Take a scenic drive south down Highway 73 which will take you through some beautiful country down into the basin outside the Park. Pine trees and valleys grace the area and often times deer, antelope, or turkeys can be found. Also keep your eye open for the occasional elk that wandered into the area.

From there you can head west on Hwy 44 which takes you through the Pine Ridge Reservation and on to the town of Interior.  If heading on to Rapid City and you want to stay off the freeway, continue your journey on Hwy 44.

If spending the day in the Badlands area, head north into the Badlands National Park where you will find amazing terrain, hiking trails, and true beauty. The loop in the park going west ends at the iconic Wall Drug. I-90  east loops you right back to Kadoka for a fun filled day.

End your day  with a  visit to  Badlands Distillery or the City Bar on Main Street.
